Employment History
Aug. – Sep. 04 Artist Assistant for Gallery Project, ‘False Work’, Station, Bristol
I assisted the artist Mark Halliday on a gallery project that was supported by UWIC and the Arts Council. The project was to execute a plaster cast of the front of the gallery space. This was then removed from the building and housed on a wooden structure on the dockside.
Oct. 02 – Sep. 04 Art Technician & Exhibition Facilitator, Hengrove Community Arts College & Post 16 Centre, Bristol
I installed exhibitions within the public gallery space, these ranged from working with individual artists to project based work with students and art organisations such as the Arnolfini, Spike Island and The Royal Academy ‘Out Reach’ programme. My duties also involved supporting classroom activities and major art trips, carrying out workshops as part of the extra curricular ‘Gifted & Talented’ programme throughout Bristol. I prepared material for lessons and workshops alongside managing stock control, distribution, monitoring budgets and bookkeeping. I processed all aspects of ceramics within the department including; preparing, recycling, glazing and firing, whilst implementing all the health and safety concerns.
Sep. 01 – Sep. 02 Artist –in – Residence, Culford School, Suffolk
Through the continuation of my own work, my role was to encourage a serious artistic practice within the school and as an ambassador for the school in the wider community. This happened by working alongside students and thus creating an open artistic dialogue. I taught formally within the school with all ages ranging from 4 to 18 years. I created connections with other departments such as Drama and Religious Studies. I held three exhibitions throughout the year both within the school alongside students’ work and outside the school environment.
Dec. 00 – Aug. 01 Freelance Art Technician, ‘Arts Desire’, London
I assisted the community arts group with projects based in the studio, public commissions and project-based work in local schools. I worked on projects such as the ‘Mayor’s Thames Festival’, the ‘Millennium Clock’ event at Greenwich and Mile End Arts Trail. Aug. 00 - Aug. 01 Freelance Assistant, Goddard & Gibbs Glass Studio, London
I worked mainly within the surface decoration team for this busy international company, creating architectural commissions for a range of projects for installation. Clients included The Houses of Parliament, a Saudi Temple and American shopping malls. My responsibilities included sand blasting, acid etching and constructing multi-layered panels. |
